This week, we are spotlighting Jessica Jonutz, executive assistant (EA), to illuminate her essential contributions to CIQ’s growth and success. Keep reading to find out about why she prioritizes cool swag, kindness, and kickboxing.

What's your role in the company, and what do you enjoy most about it?

I initially joined as Gregory Kurtzer's EA but quickly transitioned into a multifaceted role within our marketing department. My responsibilities involve coordinating events and webinars, crafting social media content, and designing memorable swag items, all while excelling in my EA duties.

What I love most about this role is the opportunity to connect with colleagues across various departments through event coordination. Interacting with diverse team members and learning from their expertise is incredibly rewarding. And let's not forget about the swag – it's a blast to see people's enthusiasm for our carefully crafted items, whether our quirky dry-erase board erasers or other branded goodies. We take our swag game very seriously around here!

What do you think sets CIQ apart from other organizations?

Without a doubt, it's our exceptional team and vibrant company culture. We have some of the brightest minds in the industry, and the collaborative environment fosters innovation and growth.

What are the key skills and attributes someone needs to succeed in your position?

Success in my role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize effectively, and adaptability to changing circumstances. Additionally, I believe in the importance of kindness, helpfulness, and showing appreciation in all interactions, internal or external. Respecting others and meeting their needs is paramount to fostering positive relationships.

How do you think your work contributes to the overall success of the company?

Since joining CIQ in March 2021, my dedication and versatility have undoubtedly contributed to our success. Embracing the dynamic nature of startup life, I've embraced multiple roles and seized opportunities to make meaningful contributions to our growth.

What do you do to stay motivated and inspired in your work?

Being part of CIQ is inherently motivating. Witnessing the company's growth and evolution fuels my excitement for our future. Additionally, my commitment to being a positive role model for my children drives me to consistently strive for excellence.

What's the best thing about being part of the CIQ team?

It's truly the people that make being part of the CIQ team so rewarding. Learning from seasoned Linux and open source veterans has been invaluable to my professional development. Watching our company blossom from a small team to a thriving organization is incredibly fulfilling.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Outside of work, I enjoy a diverse range of hobbies to unwind. Between designing and sewing clothes, creating intricate jewelry pieces, or whipping up my signature strawberry shortcake cupcakes, my creative side always takes the lead. And when it's time to recharge physically and mentally, I turn to a rigorous kickboxing session to clear my mind and energize my spirit after a long day at work.
