Altair Adds Support for Rocky Linux in Altair HyperWorks
February 5, 2024

CIQ is excited to announce that Altair, a global leader in computational science and artificial intelligence, will support Rocky Linux 8.4 in its latest release of Altair HyperWorks (2023.1). Altair customers can now deploy HyperWorks solvers atop the world’s fastest-growing Enterprise Linux operating system, Rocky Linux, confident in the enterprise-grade support Altair offers.

“Our work with CIQ in the OpenRadioss project gave us an up-close view of the maturity of Rocky Linux as a replacement for CentOS,” said Eric Lequiniou, SVP Radioss Development & Altair Solver HPC. “ As adoption of Rocky Linux continues to rise among our users, it makes sense to add Rocky Linux to the list of operating systems that Altair HyperWorks supports for X86_64 architectures.”

Altair HyperWorks is a design and simulation platform used by engineers in a wide range of industries. The computer-aided engineering (CAE) platform harnesses the power of computational science, high performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) to support the work of engineers across many scientific disciplines, including fluids and thermal; architecture, engineering and construction (AEC); materials; systems modeling; discrete element modeling; electronic system design; electromagnetics; multiphysics; multibody dynamics; structural analysis; and simulation-driven design for manufacturing.

CIQ, the founding support and services partner of Rocky Linux, has been working with Altair since 2022 when Altair open sourced OpenRadioss, its finite element analysis solver. CIQ containerized OpenRadioss using Apptainer, a tool that packages software into containers so that the software can be used on many different platforms—from small laboratory clusters all the way to massively scalable HPC clusters. CIQ also packaged OpenRadioss and Paraview into an HPC stack and made it available on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace.

We have enjoyed our working relationship with Altair and deeply appreciate the extraordinary products Altair brings to market. Altair and CIQ share the same mission of enabling innovation within the enterprise and scientific communities, and we enjoy partnering with them and combining our unique expertise to better serve our mutual customers.
