Rocky Linux and Enterprise-Level Support
Rocky Linux is a community-driven open source operating system. CIQ's goal is to add value on top of Rocky Linux and other key open source technologies in the form of escalation support, customization, optimization, integration, and professional services. This support is designed to meet the needs of organizations that require a stable and secure operating system with a long-term support lifecycle.
Escalation support for Rocky Linux includes the following services:
One support person: The first person you talk with will be the person that stays with you through resolution. We don’t route you to a call center or Level 1 support technician who doesn’t have the knowledge to solve your issue.
Bug fixes: When we fix bugs, code changes are submitted/pushed to the community.
Custom Rocky Linux versions: If you need a custom version of Rocky Linux for your particular use case, we will create that as a custom offering and support it as if it were the base Rocky Linux.
Benefits of Enterprise-Level Support
Rocky Linux enterprise-level support is used by organizations and businesses that require a stable and secure operating system with a long-term support cycle. This type of support is ideal for companies that run mission-critical applications and need to ensure that their systems are always up-to-date and secure.
Enterprise-level support from Rocky Linux provides organizations with the peace of mind that their systems are protected against potential security threats. The regular security updates and bug fixes ensure that the operating system is stable and reliable, and the long-term support cycle provides a guarantee that support will be available for ten years after each release.
CIQ offers an additional paid service for customers: Rocky Linux Long Term Support (“LTS”). This is designed for organizations who want to remain on a previous minor release of Rocky Linux (like 8.6), which is no longer supported by the public project. CIQ staff will continue backporting security and bug fixes into the supported minor releases for a period of time, after the public project has retired that minor release.
Subscribed customers who value stability can remain on their desired release longer, while still enjoying minor security and bugfix updates to their packages. As of this writing, CIQ is supporting non-zero, even-numbered point releases (8.6, 8.8, 9.2, 9.4, etc.) with its LTS offerings. LTS support lasts for 18 months after the release is retired from the public project. For example, Rocky 8.6 was retired in November 2022. CIQ’s LTS-8.6 support will last 18 months from that, or May 2024.
Additionally, the technical support from the Rocky Linux community helps organizations quickly resolve any issues that they may encounter, ensuring that their systems remain up and running at all times. Overall, enterprise-level support from Rocky Linux is a valuable component of a secure and stable IT infrastructure for organizations of all sizes.
