Chris Short

Chris Short is currently Head of Open Source at CIQ, bringing over 30 years of experience in open source software, systems, DevOps, and cloud native technologies with a specialized focus on open source sustainability, advocacy, and community building. Chris held roles at Red Hat and Amazon Web Services before joining CIQ. Chris has made significant contributions to open source projects, including Kubernetes, Ansible, and Valkey.

Chris is a disabled veteran who served for eleven years in the US military, working across all branches of the armed forces during that time. He helped bring open source and Linux into the services, as other solutions were either too expensive or too slow to procure. His military service and ability to excel despite continuous challenges have shaped his approach to technology leadership and community contribution.
