[Music] [Applause] [Music] good morning good afternoon and good evening wherever you are thank you for joining at ciq we're focused on powering the Next Generation of software infrastructure leveraging the capabilities of cloud hyperscale and HPC from research to the Enterprise our customers rely on us for the ultimate Rocky Linux werewolf and aper support escalation we provide deep development capabilities and solutions all delivered in the collaborative Spirit of Open Source yes yes this is so cool you guys I'm going to see you in person in like just a few days I am super jazzed about that welcome everybody hello this is our weekly live webinar coming
to you from ciq which is all remote right now so we are like all over the planet all over the world all over the country right now and there's going to be a bunch of us that are going to be attending sc23 super Computing 23 and Denver Colorado I will be there on Sunday so hello you guys welcome hello Rose how you doing hello Rose good morning so nice to see you and have you um Colin we don't get a the pleasure of your face on this webinar as much as I would like so why don't you do a little introduction oh I'm happy to
be here thanks for the invite no uh Colin Vander Smith uh Cloud dude at ciq uh with Google and all the other Cloud providers out there it's good to see everybody and share uh a little bit of news today yes we've got lots of news I mean maybe do we want to do like a Shameless plug real quick for the amazing work that you have done because it has been announced it's it's out in the wild now so uh we've been working closely with uh the Google Cloud infrastructure teams uh specifically Google compute engine as well as a number of other areas for high performance
Computing and uh other offerings that they have and recognize from a customer perspective uh kind of the looming deadline for uh Centos migrations uh that has a lot of exposure for customers that require Hands-On expertise uh support uh or even uh additional help when it comes to sorting out both their on- premise and uh and Cloud fleets uh around the planet and so uh We've launched a number of solutions uh in collaboration with the go Cloud product teams and Engineering it's been fantastic to work with them and uh excited to help as many customers as we can you know address their needs it's going to

be fun yes yes anyone out there you're not allowed to poach Colin I'm just letting you know but he is an amazing human and the speed at which you got all of this to come together I mean all the stars aligned but you also were there to like grab them and put them in in order so thank you for all of that love it when a plan comes together it's it is really really nice oh cool Jonathan welcome you you are here a lot but let let's let's let's have a little intro of you thanks for being here yeah hi Rose thanks uh so my
name is Jonathan Anderson everyone hello and I'm on the solutions architect team here at ciq and I've been to a number of these so I'm looking forward to see this uh this year it's um it happens to be in my city so I'll be just a quick Junt over to Denver yeah that's awesome so um we are still uh taking reservations is that the right I like actually that I don't know that just came about so we're still taking reservations to meet with these amazing people at sc23 so if you want to do that just reach out to me rinci q.com and I'll get you
on the calendar and Mr Forest thanks for being here good morning all is this mic working it is y all right good morning all my name is Forest Bert I'm a Solutions architect on Jonathan's team here at ciq uh this will be my second SC uh last year was a ton of fun got to see all the different technology meet tons of different types of people uh it was an absolute blast so I am thrilled to once again be back at SC uh as Jonathan says it's in Denver so not as far of a Jaun for me over here on the West Coast um and
uh yeah very excited to be back uh back in Denver and seeing the team and stuff like that it's going to be a great conference yeah it is GNA be great and there's something because I was at the one last year with you too so I did get to meet you a year ago which is super special but there was something that we didn't do last year that we are going to do this year that I'm very excited about and thank you specifically Forest Brian and Jonathan for bringing some demos to the booth so this is awesome so we we'll come back to exactly what
those demos are going to be about Jonathan you came off off mute did you need to no I thought you were about to ask what they were so we can talk about them later yes yes yes we will we're we're just gonna seed some uh anticipation here real quick um so thank you all of you and uh Mr Brian hey everyone Brian fan here I'm a Solutions architect uh here at ciq uh and this year this is going to be my first SC so very excited to attend uh meet a lot of people and uh I've predominantly worked on traditional HPC on premise deployments so
if you guys are interested in that uh please come talk to me I'm happy to help you out yes we are happy to help okay so yes Jonathan tell us about it what are some of the demos that we're going to be doing out at SC yeah so uh we've got demos uh spanning a bunch of our products so the one I'll be giving uh is a demonstration using our our Mountain content delivery platform and content hosting platform to upgrade a rocky Linux system to the mainline stable kernel um which is mostly just a demonstration of uh a mountain and how easy it is to
use uh I I know that I prefer to use it over similar tools from other uh other vendors that I've have encountered in the past but um the manland stable kinel is an interesting product and project within ciq as well we support the uh the most recent stable kernel from kernel.org for use um directly on Rocky Linux which is is a great thing you get additional Hardware support uh more modern uh you know all the modern development of the latest kernel releases uh but you get to use it in your existing rocket Linux platform and so uh demonstrating not only how easy it is to
use Mountain but how easy it is if you'd like to upgrade to the most recent kernel that is usually Out Of Reach on an Enterprise Linux platform I'll also talk about Dave God loves he's not on the webinar today uh but he's going to be demonstrating Apper and using Apper to secure um your supply chain so so Dave is a a vocal proponent of container signatures and container encryption and so he's going to be demonstrating a bit of that in the booth as well okay so I know that we have like days and times of this amazingness and we actually have a link that I
think someone behind the scenes is going to put in our comments which is awesome you guys can go to our website and just go to events and you can get that as well but I actually have it up right now with a little map so can I can I share screen like do I do it or do you do it Mr Alex yes you share your screen and then he'll he'll make it visible Okay cool so I go present it's my first time doing this guys on this particular platform okay share screen yes okay so does it let me pick which screen share because this
is important um it'll be the one with all the most private information on it I know so actually I'm just going to close everything else and only keep open what I want you to see oh it's gon to ask me so this is exciting okay so uh window there we go this is it boom can you see it awesome so this is the wildness that will be sc23 and so if you need to find us I highly recommend grabbing your map and then also navigating to Booth 1855 and so here's a nice visual and if you need me to send that to you in your
email I am happy to um this is where we are going to be and then my curiosity is if I make shrunk does it then give you the option to see the one behind it no no all right cool okay so that is the end of my screen stop screen share Okay cool so yeah you can just go to um uh cq. comom and our blog uh our blog space and then just search in there um sc23 and then it gives you this like don't miss ciq talks and demos at at sc23 so it's like a list of where we're going to be and what
we're going to do and what's happening there so very exciting okay so um Colin what like did you go last year is this like a thing for you like do you go all the time tell me your experience with sc's oh man uh SC is always a lot of fun it's actually probably one of the I would say one of the more exciting and fun events uh like in this particular space because you can hear from customers and from new products and new releases you know across the planet you know in some of the most Innovation that I think happens in our space and again
coming from a cloud background um we've been obsessive over infrastructure for quite a long time and I think HPC is one of the key spaces that needs to be kind of rebuilt or evolve a little bit further especially with the rise of a lot of you know the latest Technologies and everything that are out there and undoubtedly that is the event where those things happen and come together um it's pretty cool Forest Brian Jonathan I'm curious to hear kind of your thoughts thoughts or what you guys are excited about for next week I'm sure there's going to be some enticing news coming out um SC
last year was just an incredible experience all around the board um the equipment and the hardware and stuff that people bring to that uh from cloud providers hauling out their different instance types so you can see what that looks like to all types of different uh you know novel AI accelerators new chips that type of thing you know going beyond the GPU um last year we saw tons of like liquid immersion cooling uh which was very unexpected and a lot of places told us that oh yeah these new 200 400 watt gpus are getting to the point where like air cooling doesn't work anymore um
and so all kinds of just you know just unexpected technology um the people that you end up meeting there from across different Industries there are universities um huge uh you know manufacturing companies industrial companies um supercomputing sites all types of stuff it's uh uh it just like you say column it is really like the premier place to uh to meet and discuss Computing and to see what is new and what's going on so so like since last year to this year there has been like an explosion in AI as well right like how do you think that's gonna affect and influence kind of the things
that we see next week and I'll talk a little bit I expect we'll see a lot of AI text generation demos a lot of companies that are are basing products maybe like log analysis that kind of thing around AI generation but I I'm a little bit suspicious of it being much more than a buzzword at this conference I'm sure it'll drive a lot of of interest in in GPU Computing as things like that do and maybe uh an interest in further merging the HPC conversation into cloud computing just because that's where AI is happening for the most part right now um but you know I
I I think it'll be visible on the show floor and and out so my attention now is mostly drawn to the exhibits and the partners and and and vendors that are selling I expect on the in the proper conference where there's a lot of academic uh um presentation and papers presented it'll probably characterize that portion of the conference Affair bit um but that's a little bit out of out of my attention while I'm there these years H yeah I know this can be like a a touchy subject for some people and but I have heard that AI really like HPC it that is what it
is right that like the you know how you define what is happening behind the scenes it's very similar so maybe we're just a step ahead there I think these days we get kind of caught up thinking about AI as these big llm systems and stuff like that um the fact of the matter the more the most interesting stuff probably and the most like industrially useful stuff that's going on in AI at the moment is probably still you know ad targeting that type of thing um and overall we kind of see more and more Enterprises getting to the scale where their AI approaches an HPC level
use case um so yeah just like Jonathan says I anticipate the text generating llms much like stable diffusion was the hottest demo on the floor last year I anticipate the the text generation Ones Will probably be of some interest but um in general the biggest thing with AI is just a lot of Enterprises are starting to see it as a more significant HBC like use case and so that's where we're seeing like these novel you know Hardware chips trying to go beyond the GPU to enable new scales of AI Computing yeah I think I have so many thoughts on this that uh we could we
could talk about this for hours um but I think we're in we're very early stage in kind of the evolution so whereas to Forest Point you talk about llms and then both the effectiveness the use cases and efficiency that that really kind of comes into question and that kind of led to right the shortage of of chips in Silicon you know delays from you know years prior as well during the pandemic and now an over demand in some areas for operating these very large models that uh you know in some cases are are very uh easy to use as a consumer uh but in an
Enterprise and business application still struggling to find like the actual fit and so I think what I'd be really interested to see next week at at at sc23 is validated trusted Enterprise use cases as well as how they're handling security regulation in compliance and then seeing um not just what the training model is worked on and what the output is but then um what controls are in place to do continued monitoring and Analysis for breaches updates patches everything um and then where the data set and resides and is stored so I I know someone's going to do it there's probably going to be a few
that are I can't wait to see the demos I think it's gonna be really cool so first speaking of demos what are the demos that you're going to be doing uh yeah speaking of people that brought the llm as the demo to SC um I'm here to talk about fuzzball at my booth demo so I've got about a half hour talk that kind of goes over our computer platform bubal um we've talked about it on the webinar a little bit but it's kind of our uh big Automation and uh workflow isation platform uh for HPC and Enterprise Computing um it allows you to put together
workflows that Define certain processes like running um uh genomics sequencing scripts uh doing uh computational fluid dynamics simulations uh in aerodynamics that type of thing um some of our demos we've shown here are like car crash simulations uh different things like that um so essentially you know if it's AI training that type of thing if it's some type of HPC or you know Enterprise use case where you're trying to you like I said run simulations do some type of um data analysis AI training Etc um it's a kind of a big platform that we're putting together with a focus on uh operation in the cloud
uh and so for my demo uh I'm bringing our beta cluster and the Llama 2 model from meta uh running on that doing a little bit of inference so uh basically we're just looking at kind of a pipeline that pulls in some uh model files deploys those out brings up some GPU Computing or some GPU resources to run that on um run some Python scripts that allow us to do a little bit of inference and then um outputs our results back into the the fuzzball log space so excited to uh yeah be there like I said kind of showing off something interesting running on it
awesome I also just heard uh a little behind the scenes that we are going to do our best to actually stream those demos live as well so right here in this same place it's going to be a different time but it's in the same place we're going to uh be streaming live from sc23 so if you can't make it uh you know we'll we'll keep you updated on all the awesomeness that is happening we might even like go kind of like you know walking around you know to all the different booths and see what's happening I mean you saw that map it's going to be
wild wild so many people thank you Forest I know that's a lot of work that you're putting together for everybody to do that live so appreciate it um I think Brian you also have some things that you are putting together yeah yes yes uh so I've basically prepared a uh traditional HPC deployment uh demo which will use um some anible automation which will be run through um our ciq supported product Ascender and uh basically this automation will deploy a werewolf open PBS uh cluster uh with a push of a button so you basically hit a button restart your compute nodes and boom you have a working uh open PBS cluster uh so yeah that's what I'll be demoing November 14th 10: a.m.
so pull up to Booth 1855 for that if you're interested man look at Brian with the dates and the times yall know where I'm gonna be at what that's awesome I love how simple you make it you're like you know you just put the things together you click the button you got a cluster I love it Phil that simple it's very cool it's really cool great work Brian thank you Phillip um excellent that we will get a chance to see what will be happening at sc23 thank you team yay philli thank you yeah that is it's it's pretty special you know the what technology has
allowed us to do and have and be an experience it's really really cool definitely one of my favorite phrases is when I was a kid this stuff didn't exist man awesome all right Colin so uh I'm kind of putting you on the spot a little bit here but I think that you can speak to some of the partners that are going to be some of our ciq partners that are going to be at SC that we're excited to see yeah actually um so we've got a number of demos and presentations where we have uh product level Integrations uh with some of the kind of prominent
HPC software providers that are out there um so I believe we've got a demo time and everything set up with alter I think during sc23 next week um that's been a fantastic partnership uh working with them and the team uh we've met each other throughout all of the cloud events that have happened this year already and everything else and it's actually fun to have these types of Integrations uh come together to make their you know um both modeling 3D performance as Forest mentioned cfd and other simulation models uh perform inherently better through kind of these collaborations um there are a couple other ones I don't
know that I can talk about yet uh maybe forest or Brian might know that uh are kind of under the top secret fold a little bit but uh it will be coming out next week as well and I think that's when they'll be uh getting officially released and launched so keep an eye on that space there'll be some fun things coming out of this crew there's a lot of thing a lot of fun things coming up okay so so um what else we got here you guys what is like the thing that you're really looking forward to the most Jonathan yeah so yeah one of
the things that then internally we've been talking about we're a remote team so we're excited to have uh supercomputing be an opportunity for us to gather a larger group of us together and uh my team with the sessay we most of us hav't haven't seen each other before certainly not all in one place but we're actually going to have an opportunity to have all of us there including uh yosaki Senda who we talk about a lot because of all the work that he does on this webinar but I don't think anyone on the US side has met him in person so we're really excited to
have us all there in one place but that extends to our Partnerships too so I do a lot of uh work in the werewolf Community uh in that open source project and we going to have a few members of that uh of the committee that runs that project in person at where um at SC and notably um Christian at Susa he does a fair bit of development on werewolf and he's going to be running werewolf um Demos in the and a fully automated demo in fact that I think is just going to be playing live but in a loop as a scripted thing uh in
the Susu Booth so I'm definitely going to be stopping over there and and checking out that demo um but you know there's a fair bit of it's an opportunity to meet with all these people that we we partner with we do some business with we collaborate with um and have some of those more casual conversations that that form the glue for that long-term partnership you know speaking of Partnerships uh with Susa what like is open Ela gonna be there and have a presence I know this is like not even on here we should probably grab somebody else Greg come on in can we can we
speak to that Colin it would be you man I mean I I think um the announcements recently kind of speak for themselves right so going back to kind of the initial uh alignment and partnership I think the road map has been set that this is uh very very real uh and that there is a lot of momentum and arguably even more demand coming from Partnerships and that's not just Hardware but that's also software and customers and partners and uh in every industry uh that I've seen so far and uh you don't need to take my word for it you can go to open.org and then
you can click on the slack Channel and just go down the introductions list and just see where people are coming from and what they're excited about right so I think uh the HPC space uh you know when I look at kind of the open source philosophies and Ethos that both ciq and us and all everyone here and our entire company uh believes in as well as kind of the fermentation of that into kind of this partnership with Seuss and uh and Oracle I think it's undoubtedly just time until uh HBC and a lot of these other partners you know come into the fold uh because
it's it's the right way to do things and it makes things easier it uh provides more development support uh collaboration um and I think I think a lot of people share that opinion in this space yeah but if if you're watching this webinar and you're coming to SC and you want to learn more about Open Ela the fact is ciq uh will be there Oracle will be there and sisa will be there and I'd love for anyone interested to show that interest by asking about open Ela at any of our presences I'm sure that there's someone there who would love to talk more about it
yeah absolutely thank you for that and um I still in my mind want to call it open Ella so I just need to say that out loud because they see every time someone says that Rose I get that Rihanna song stuck in my head all of you are doing it oh yes thank you okay well maybe you killed it so that's good that's good we'll move on move on from here all right so Mr Forest what are you looking forward to the most uh I am looking forward to much like Jonathan getting to see the team there it's always fun to get to go see
everyone on in one place and as Jonathan notes our whole sa team will be there together which is kind of a unique opportunity um so very excited about that uh just in general I'm really interested to see what type of Interest we have in the products and what type of people we have stopping in um we've really got quite a great stack of um you know products coming out at ciq with traditional HBC Ascender Mountain all this stuff um we're really kind of the One-Stop shop for your infrastructure needs and so I'm uh I'm really interested to just meet the people that come by and
stuff like I said it's fun to augle at all the technology and stuff like that that's there um you know all the metal and stuff like that gpus Etc that people haul out there uh I'm sure we'll all take a moment to go appreciate the cray or at least I hope we can all take a photo of our like sa team in front of that um but I for the most part this year I'm really excited to see who stops by and just what type of problems they bring uh that we can help them solve we've really got like I said an impressive collection of
products that we've been working hard on at ciq and so this is uh really going to be a this is our second year going to SC um so last year was uh it was a great operation just kind of introducing ourselves to the world but this year it's going to be a lot of fun to kind of flex the muscle of what we've been working on and really show what we can do for people definitely want to see you flex your muscles Forest I was trying to hit the gym before this whole thing but I uh to kind of get in shape for it but
I I failed miserably so see that's one of the fun Parts though of this whole thing I will say like when you work with people remotely like this exclusively you really kind of forget that uh you know people are actually three-dimensional out there and so it's always kind of interesting to actually just get to just finally see people there's a you know a couple folks on our team that are like you know unexpectedly six foot five six foot six so I'm like oh hey guys so it's it's just it's it's it's a it's something you can really only appreciate if you actually just work exclusively
with people remotely it's a lot of fun so yeah that's right we get to check like what shoes do you actually wear like are you actually wearing pants what color are they yeah it's fun I think we we'll all be wearing pants at the show yes that is mandatory thank you very much now that we've got that settled so I think uh Mr Colin you got to go in a couple of minutes we really appreciate your time and your presence do you want to just like pop in and and share any last uh words of wisdom for us no I would just say thank you
so much for having me thanks everyone out there for tuning in uh We've got big things ahead uh I know it's kind of end of the year where we're going into Super compute and kind of the the next round of events you know over the next couple of weeks on top of that so stay tuned there's going to be a lot more news coming out Beyond just this week's press release and all the fun things that we got to look forward to uh next week and I hate to do the the Cloak and Dagger there are some really amazing things that we're gonna be announcing
next week you gota wait till them oo a mystery man I like it it it it is very exciting like we are a young powerful excited uh adventurous brilliant team that you know it's never a dull moment around here so definitely come see us col and appreciate your time man thanks for being here thanks everyone we'll see you y all right Mr Brian what are you most looking forward to uh like Jonathan for said I'm very excited to uh meet the entire ciq team in person uh and also our customer uh and people who are going to be stopping by the boots uh customers Partners
everyone that's going to be at SC uh personally I'm also interested in exploring um arm and specialized uh Hardware a little bit more uh especially Hardware around Computing our uh large language models and kind of understanding the value prop that that brings compared to traditional gpus and yeah yeah just a lot of learning and yeah a lot of meeting people yeah yeah that's awesome I know that we we got a a question if you guys have questions that are are watching or comments please pop them in and we'll bring them up in just a moment or right now crazy okay crazy Kyle I hope that
is your actual given name because that would be amazing is there going to be a demo for a sender at SC please say yes so I I think that there might be a demo Beyond us as well but at the very least Brian's demo has a fairly big Ascender portion right so he's using a sender to um automate and simplify and oneclick button to the cluster kind of action yes kind of bring in the can you maybe talk a little bit about your experience getting to Noah sender in the first place and how that'll play into like why we've Incorporated it into what we're doing
and why we're using it as part of this demo oh so yeah a sender is basically um a UI for running um the anable automation used to deploy um this HPC cluster so basically with a sender you can basically put set up your inventory set up your job once which is a job to deploy the cluster and then you can basically reuse this job pointed at your different inventories and you could deploy multiple clusters in minutes with a single click so yeah uh very excited to show to demo this at SC and yeah feel free to stop by our booth uh if you're interested in
that yeah absolutely so I just got a message from a couple of the other uh Engineers that are going to be there as well and they're like hey we're all bringing laptops Rose so if they want a demo of anything like we're happy to give it yeah and that's a good point in addition to us just clearly being equipped with computers and interested and passionate to talk about what we're building and what we're you know what ciq is is hosting at the show uh you don't have to just be there for one of these time demos we of course hope you do come and hope
you you see the presentations that we give but we'll have demo stations available we'll be there to just do stuff on the Fly too so definitely come bring your questions bring your interest and and we'll take down uh names notes and and next actions from whatever conversations we're able to have and real quick I just want to jump in and make sure I mention uh Yoshi also was bringing a demo of fuzzball I think he is showing off um open radios I can't remember Jonathan if you already mentioned this I didn't thank you for for remembering to to say it yeah yeah so Yoshi is
also bringing a fuzzell demo uh his is on as said the open radios platform which we've covered on a couple of our webcasts before um but it's essentially a product by altar that um does uh it's FEA isn't it yeah it does finite element analysis so different um types of like car crash type simulations things yeah that type of thing I wasting getting it a bit confused with open foam in my head but yeah uh so he's bringing open radios and he'll be demoing that as well there so but much like Jonathan says we all have uh demo stations laptops stuff like that and are
more than happy to show off the tech at any time so yeah and we like to talk up that open radios demo because uh not only is it just interesting software that we can demonstrate running on ciq platforms but it also is kind of a best case scenario of there was a popular engineer in application that was released into open source and immediately we were able to collaborate without having to have coordinated that collaboration beforehand and you know Yoshi was just really interested got it working in aper and got it working in fuzzball let alone running on Rocky and these are all things that would
have been much more difficult and uh and taken much more time in a completely proprietary closed Source environment uh so yeah it's it's a great example of the kinds of Partnerships that are available because of the the open source nature and community that CQ thrives and participates in and we hope more of our partners and more of the people that will meet at the show will join us in things like that well said Mike drop I think we could just end right there Jonathan you're a magical man with words thank you one thing I I would like to talk about um I I know I've
talked about werewolf a fair bit already here but one more thing is if you're not following um events like like current events in HPC um especially kind of on the backend infrastructure werewolf is kind of the only game in town for cluster management right now certainly in uh in the open source space um wait what happened to Bright well yeah I so these things exist but uh they're either really being hypers specialized in ways that make them less generally applicable or less approachable from a cost perspective or uh some of them are are simply going end of life and uh we're really excited to continue
to support werewolf and see how it develops over time but like uh with open radio as we talked about or like Rocky Linux or Apper these things are bigger than us we're here to support them and we're here to support you in using them uh but they are Community projects and uh they they grow based on the feedback and participation of that community so uh if you are interested in using werewolf or if you're interested in uh contributing to werewolf definitely come by the booth and talk with us about that um we we'd love to support you in that either in your day-to-day of deploying
it on a cluster or if there's features that you want to get into it we can either work together on that or we can support you in getting your changes in uh we were just talking with one of our customers customers recently who wants to get IPv6 support uh kind of enhanced and and improved inside of werewolf and they're going to do that themselves and we're going to support them in it um but uh that's again the kind of collaboration that is possible only uh because of the open source nature of the the products that we participate in so yeah come be a part of
it so also Jonathan come on brag a little bit what was that quote you shared a quote that one of our um customers SL people in the community that you have been helping Implement I don't want to call them out too much name or or thing but yeah I I was uh talking with someone recently uh who reached out to me just completely extemporaneously just wanted to talk about werewolf and he called it the most powerful HPC tool or it's not the exact quote but something like that he definitely is the most powerful tool that he'd used and that was just really exciting um I
I like werewolf a lot I like aper a lot I like Rocky Linux a lot and I think that they're all kind of the the most powerful compelling thing even a sender like it's it's easy to get lost if you start getting into the really um the uh the minutia of what these things technically are be like well what what is a sender but a WX and we're really trying to make Ascender the most powerful way to deploy a a an automated ansible platform because you can just deploy it and you don't have to figure it out or compete with a commercial offering uh in
in terms of getting documentation in it getting changes into it so um yeah we're we're really excited about all of those things but that werewolf does have a special place in my heart because it solves so many of the problems that I have had in a past life and uh I I I'm glad to be a part of that Community for sure was there just a a recent release on werewolf we're working on one it's it's been a little it's been a little while one of the the new things that's been going on in werewolf is we have a formal Committee of of leadership and
ownership of that project now so that's one of the reasons I'm really excited uh for werewolf at SC is we're going to have an in-person meeting of that uh steering committee and make some decisions about policies and and release schedules and things like that um but we're working on 450 and there's good functionality in there I think Brian's been talking up the disc provisioning we're also working on um support for grub as a bootloader compared to just ipixie that we've used in the past um and the the main goal there is to have support for secure boot all the way from werewolf to the the
running image on the compute node um and there's a whole bunch of other stuff bug fixes it gets uh more in the weeds but we've add added so much testing to werewolf 45 and that's really improved the the pace and and uh process of developing it as well and I'm I'm glad to see the community around werewolf matur maturing uh a fair bit over the last few months with the definition of a formal steering committee and getting some of these policies in place that just lay the ground workor for more Community involvement and getting more people into the project yeah he you guys have been
doing a really great job so I kind of watch from the sidelines I um I don't even know what you call it but something in GitHub where like I have subscribed and so I get like all of you guys's Communications in email I didn't realize that that's awesome I do so I see you guys going back and forth and I'm like that's so cool and then of course the slack channel so um Apper has a very active slack slack channel so does werewolf it's a little bit weird to finded it's called like hpg or something but you so the the uh the werewolf slack is
still predominantly at the hpcg slack which is a an organizing body for werewolf and and aper at one point in the past that that's likely to change in the future we're talking about moving that to its own slack there is a werewolf slack it's just not where the community has mostly been and where the conversations are happening and then for Rocky Linux there's a a mattermost if you are interested in Rocky Linux and want to get into that community that is a very active Place both from an organizing the project standpoint and an enduser interested external party standpoint so definitely get on and and find
one of those places we don't have a community setup around a sender yet but perhaps we will at some point in the future yes yes we definitely will okay so I don't know if there's uh any more other questions and comments from from the field but definitely you guys send them in if they are um Forest you want to just kind of wrap up your final thoughts excitement for a it's going to be a blast like I said it's C's second year going here so we're excited to really bring our whole crew bring our whole products we've got a bigger Booth than last year um
like I said we've got a lot of elaborate Booth demos and different stuff like that that our folks are they excited to show off um so you know keep an eye out for us there at the booth walking the floor and uh you know feel free to come and have a conversation anytime about uh your HPC infrastructure needs and what you're doing in Computing so it's going to be a great time I'm very excited to see both my fellow uh CQ colleagues there as well as our customers partners and uh people that just want to talk to us about the technology so I'm thrilled to
be there can't wait that's it perfect uh Brian yeah just overall excited to attend my first SC meet a lot of people and uh hear about all the challenges people are running into in HPC and uh yeah just learning a lot about the tech that's out there what's on the bleeding edge and yeah very excited oh Brian I don't know if I realized because I was trying to think because I know that I've seen you in person but I was like where was that it was not as seen Okay cool so this is this is going to be very exciting for you it is I
mean you saw the map right is just like it's mindboggling like how much is going on all over the place and very exciting um Mr Jonathan you got some final thoughts um yeah I I'm I'm excited to meet all the people that come to the booth right we had really really good uh conversations for that last year that literally changed the the the way I was approaching certain problems it it was at SCC that we first learned for example that you could generate Apper containers out of spa and I've used that a lot over the past year and there's always little tidbits like that that
you learn from conversations that you don't expect and so I I go into SC just with an as open a schedule as I can and an open mind to just follow the conversations follow the meetings follow where people are and I'm sure we'll we'll come come away with more than we brought yeah yeah that's awesome so my final thoughts would be make sure you get yourselves some hydration you bring a water bottle you make sure to have breakfast before the day goes yes exactly because the day will just go and then all of a sudden you're like wait I feel feel a little bit shaky
and I don't know what's happening here I need to eat so definitely stay hydrated eat paste yourself take your time what what is that it's a special water I voted water okay oh it's your water bottle yes okay perfect this yes bring a refillable water bottle yes 100% um and yeah just make sure that you get some rest because it's going to be a lot it's going to be absolutely amazing again we will stream as in the morning in the afternoon in the evening as much as we Poss L can um the demos and just all the goodness that's going to be there so make
sure that you reach out to us if you guys have any questions or want to meet thank you so much you guys for your time and all your hard work I'm gonna see you in like a couple days thanks Rose see you soon all right thanks for listening thanks for watching thanks for being here we'll see you at SC [Music] bye [Music]
